So, do you remember how I went to a fab clothes swap event a month or so ago, hosted by Well, they have set us a little challenge- to style our swap finds with pieces from our wardrobe. To help us along, they gave us £35 to buy accessories, clothing or shoes to make our outfits. This is pretty much the perfect challenge for me right now, as I keep on thinking about what Ivania from Love Aesthetics has said about paring down her wardrobe- that she now has a wardrobe only filled with things she loves, make her feel great, and all go together, and that this makes dressing feel effortless. I’m nowhere near minimal but I’d like to make steps towards that way of thinking about my things. Anyway, for my restyle challenge I chose this cute boxy crop top originally from H&M. On the night I loved the neutral colours with the fun heart print, and thought it would be fun to try out a summer trend. But so far I’ve pretty much just worn it with highwaisted denim.Time to make it work a bit harder :).

Day and Night

In the day I often gravitate towards pretty simple looks. I got this junmpsuit at the blog swap too and popping the cropped tee under it keeps my shoulders covered while keeping off any extra bulk around the waist. This style almost satisfies my dungaree cravings 🙂 wearing things over or under other items is the easiest way to make them work a bit harder in your wardrobe. I bought this Topshop necklace for £5 in the sale to add an extra feature- statement jewellery is my favourite way to spice up an outfit, and it can change to whole feel of it. Paired with a good hat and my favourite shoes, this feels like a very ‘me’ outfit.

Daytime look- Crop Top and Jumpsuit: both H&M via swap shop; flatforms:Primark (similar here); Hat: random stall; midi rings: River Island; Nail Polish: L’Oreal N1 Snow in Megeve*; Necklace: Topshop*

Boxy crops tend to look more casual so I was on the lookout for something to make it work more for the evening. I couldn’t resist this maxi skirt- in the same neutral colours as the top but with great details like the side panels and double slits on the sides, it feels pretty dressy. I found it in the Warehouse sale for £25- I pretty much always shop from sales and try to avoid duff purchases by choosing colours or shapes that work with other pieces I already have. Paired with the same shoes as before, my trusty Asos leather jacket and a slick of lipstick, this is still a very ‘me’ outfit whilst changing the mood completely. I love how the white nails are so perfect for summer and tie in with the monochrome looks of these outfits. I also bought these gorgeous Shop Dixi midi rings*, because as you may have guessed, jewellery is my favourite accessory ) Unfortunately they are still winging their way to me in the post so they will have to be worn with the next outing of this top 🙂
